Jeff Vermeeren
Extreme Abstract art forged through fire, ice, pressure, and chemical reaction on metal
About the Artist
Jeff Vermeeren is a Canadian artist known for what he calls “Extreme Abstract,” a process-driven style that uses metal surfaces and incorporates fire, ice, pressure, and chemical reactions into the finished piece. Born and raised in Calgary, Vermeeren draws not only on artistic curiosity but also on a background in construction and demolition, which clearly informs the force, experimentation, and physicality of his finished work.
That unusual process is central to the appeal of Vermeeren’s art. His pieces feel modern, industrial, and highly textured, yet they also retain enough control and finish to sit comfortably in polished contemporary spaces. For collectors who want abstraction with bold energy and surface drama, Vermeeren occupies a particularly distinctive lane.
Kerja Gallery currently shows “Surreal Daze” (unique), “Cyclone,” “Clown’s Dream,” and “Circus Clown,” suggesting both the abstract and more image-driven sides of his practice and providing a useful cross-section of his range.
